Boulder Outdoor Adventures specializes in providing private guides with transportation to take you to your next adventure while visiting Colorado and especially around the Front Range mountain area. We are not a traditional tour guide service. We are more than that. When you hire us for your day or multi-day activity you are treated as family. Your trip is not only tailored to your tastes and interests but your guide will show you the areas that only locals know and care about.

Want to walk on the wild side BOA is more than happy to show you that side whether it be hanging from a steep rock cliff or hiking up some obscure, beautiful Front Range trail. Our professional guides are experts with wildlife viewing, topography, mountain biking, trail running, backpacking, camping, rock climbing, skiing, day hiking and many others.

ABOUT US

The Rocky Mountain Front Range and the city of Boulder in particular is our base of operations. The abundant sunshine in the Front Range area provides us with excellent conditions 300 days a year for cycling, hiking, climbing and any number of other activities. There are many interesting restaurants and places to stay during your visit to our area.

Boulder Outdoor Adventures guides are the best in the business. We are all highly experienced and experts in our fields. Several of us are published in our fields and when combined we have many decades of experience in the outdoors. Additionally most of us have lived in this area for over twenty years and have a familiarity with it that is unsurpassed. We provide only the best in instruction, guided trips and service. Private custom guided trips with small ratios are our specialty and our pleasure.

SERVICES

Hiking

Our day hikes can last anywhere from four to eight hours. They are all scenic and at all levels of fitness. You need not be an ultra-hiker to enjoy our excursions. You can be a beginner. But, we even have something for the ultra-hiker if that is what you want.

Tours: Mesa Trail, Marshall Mesa Trail, Eldorado Canyon Trail, South Boulder Creek Trail.

Overnight hikes

Hiking several days in a row can be both mentally and physically rewarding. Hiking several miles into the wilderness, spending the night in a lightweight tent, eating gourmet food and sleeping under the stars has benefits that can last forever. We cater the trip to your ability and desire. One night out or more, it's up to you. We provide the guide, food and most equipment. The desire is yours. The rest is up to you.

Mountain Biking

Mountain biking is fun, exciting and a great way to cover some distance and experience the local terrain around the Boulder area. Day trips begin at 4 hours or can last 8 hours. It is up to you. The variety of trails begin at flat single-track and can range all the way to steep challenging terrain at high altitude along the foot of the Rocky mountains.

Tours: Sourdough Trail, Pioneer Trail, Marshall Mesa area, Doudy Draw.

Road Biking

Boulder is home to thousands of road biking enthusiasts. The rides here are second to none in quality, beauty and variety. Ride some of the same courses that have been made famous as training rides and races for many of America's best riders.

Tours: Mogul-Bismark ride, Fruit Loop ride, Foothills ride, Jamestown ride, Boulder Visa ride.

Rock Climbing

We have a special introduction to rock climbing. This is a 4 hour day of moderate and fun top-roped climbing. Discover the fun and challenge of climbing rock. If you would like to do a full day of climbing we will add an additional climb with few hours to learn the thrill of rappelling.

Instruction: 4 hour and full day (8 hour) instruction available

Skiing

Backcountry skiing in Colorado is the best! With the many opportunities the mountains present for powder and Spring corn, there are always places to go year-round. We use only the best alpine-touring equipment for our tours.

Tours: James Peak, Butler Gulch, Quandry peak, Banana Bowl.

Photography hikes

The natural beauty that surrounds Boulder is varied and breathtaking. From long-distance mountain vistas to close-ups of vibrant autumn colors the Front Range offers the avid photographer a wide range of subjects to focus their skills on. Our experts take you out during times when the light is perfect for your chosen subject. Whether it be landscape photography or nature photography we reveal the secrets to better photography.

Full Moon Activities

Hiking by the light of the full moon is a unique and invigorating experience that is not to be missed. This is an opportunity to experience the outdoors a completely different way.

Take an easy hike along a shady creek beside a gently cascading stream to lunch by a quiet lake. Climb your first fourteener. Discover the solitude and appeal of less-visited peaks and summits. Travel to high peaks in remote places of RMNP. There are countless ways to enjoy mountains. Let us be a part of your visit.

Rock Climbing
Half Day (four hours), $150 per person Full Day (6-8 hours), $200 per person

Mountain Biking
$125 per person plus the cost of each mountain bike rental

Road Biking
$100 per person plus the cost of each road bike rental

Ski Touring
$120 per person plus cost of ski equipment (boots, skis, skins, poles)

Hiking day trips
Half Day (four hours), $50 per person with a two person minimum
