Steep Chutes, Steep Narrow Lines
Ski touring and resort off-piste and fly fishing in Bariloche/Northern Patagonia
Season: End of July to beginning of November. August is best.
Duration: Ten Days
Level: ADVANCED
This trip is designed for advanced levels skiers who have touring experience and want to have quality ski descents. The focus is in descending great chutes, steep lines and fresh powder. We use ski touring as a tool to get us to great locations for skiing.
Day One: Arrive in BarilocheDay Two: Ski all day at Cerro Catedral. Dropping into chutes, seeking powder runs. Spend the night in Bariloche.
Day Three: Ski all day in Cerro Catedral. Same as before, spend the night in Bariloche.
Day Four: Depart for Refugio Frey. Here is a backcountry area with spires, chutes and bowls. Chutes average 35-40degrees. Spend night in Frey hut.
Day Five: Morning skiing in Frey area. Depart and return to Bariloche.
Day Six: Depart for Cerro Bayo. Take the chairlift to get above ski line and from here access the amazing backcountry. Spend the night in Villa La Angostura.
Day Seven: Drive to San Martin de los Andes (4 hours) to the ski area of Chapelco. Area is bigger than Cerro Bayo but smaller than Catedral. Really fun Backcountry skiing. Spend night in hotel.
Day Eight: Drive to Bariloch. Check into hotel. Go fly fishing.
Day Nine: Get up early go fly fishing. Take break. Back fishing at duskā¦
Day Ten: Depart Bariloche for airport. Fly back to USA.
